Intimate Jewish Wedding at Parrish Art Museum

Some of the most meaningful weddings I photograph are the celebrations where every guest has played an important role in the couple's life. This intimate Jewish wedding at the Parrish Art Museum had that feeling throughout the day, from getting ready and the first look to the ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

With an intimate celebration, I can work more quietly and pay close attention to the relationships unfolding around the couple. Parents exchanging glances, friends laughing together, and the anticipation before the ceremony became as important to the story as the portraits and details.

The Jewish traditions gave the ceremony its own rhythm and meaning, particularly the moments beneath the chuppah and the joy surrounding the couple afterward. Against the restrained architecture of the Parrish, the vivid pink and red floral design introduced a completely different energy to the setting and to the photographs.

I wanted the finished gallery to feel less like a sequence of individual wedding images and more like a family archive: portraits, traditions, design, and the small interactions that show what it felt like to be there with the people closest to them.
