A Weekend of Love at Parrish Art Museum
Photographing two grooms also let me follow the rhythm they created for their own celebration. My approach stayed the same: I observed genuine interactions while creating portraits that reflected who they are together, without forcing moments into a predetermined idea of what a wedding day should look like.
This weekend began by the ocean, where family and friends gathered in a relaxed setting before the wedding day itself. Without schedules or formal timelines, everyone enjoyed being together. These gatherings often reveal a couple's personality more honestly than any planned portrait session. Conversations happen naturally, emotions feel unfiltered, and friendships become an important part of the visual narrative.
By the time the wedding day arrived, I already understood the people surrounding the couple. I knew who would share the biggest laughs, who would become emotional during the ceremony, and which relationships carried years of history. That familiarity let me anticipate moments before they happened, rather than simply reacting to them.
Photographing two grooms also offers a unique perspective. Without traditional wedding-day expectations, every celebration develops its own rhythm and personality. Throughout the weekend, what stood out most was how easy they were together. Every glance, every smile, and every quiet moment together reflected years of friendship and trust. Those authentic connections mattered far more than any individual detail because they will continue to matter decades from now.
