The Wedding of Davido & Chioma: Published in Vogue

Photographing Davido and Chioma Adeleke's wedding in Miami meant documenting a celebration on an extraordinary scale while keeping the people at its center. More than 1,500 guests came together for a wedding shaped by Nigerian culture, family, fashion, music, and deeply personal moments. Having my photographs from the celebration later published in Vogue made the experience even more meaningful.

The scale was incredible, but what interested me most were the personal moments unfolding within it. Beneath an immersive white floral ceremony setting, Chioma wore a custom Alonuko Bridal gown. At the same time, Davido chose Tom Ford, fashion becoming an important part of the visual story without overshadowing the ceremony itself.

Photographing more than 1,500 guests meant constantly observing what was happening around me. Family interactions unfolded alongside performances, remarkable fashion, music, and spontaneous moments between guests. I moved naturally through it all, knowing when to step closer and when to observe so that the photographs could preserve both the scale of the wedding and the smaller moments within it.

Fashion continued throughout the celebration, from couture and traditional Nigerian attire to intricate textiles and jewelry. Something visually interesting was everywhere I looked, but I never wanted the photographs to feel like a fashion shoot. The people, their personalities, and the culture being celebrated remained at the center of the images.

By evening, the celebration had moved into an entirely different energy. Dramatic lighting, large-scale production, music, performances, and a packed dance floor transformed the reception into something closer to a concert. At the same time, the photographs continued to move between the scale of the room and Davido and Chioma surrounded by family and friends.

That balance is what defines the gallery for me: heritage, fashion, music, family, and extraordinary production, all surrounding Davido and Chioma. Vogue's publication of the photographs gave the wedding a life beyond the celebration itself, but the story remains rooted in the people and moments I was there to document.
