The Wedding of Davido & Chioma: Published in Vogue

Some weddings are beautiful, while others become unforgettable cultural moments. Photographing Davido and Chioma Adeleke’s wedding in Miami was one of those rare experiences. With more than 1,500 guests coming together from around the world, the celebration was an extraordinary expression of Nigerian culture, family, fashion, music, and love. Seeing the wedding and my photographs later featured in Vogue Weddings made documenting this moment even more meaningful.

From the beginning, I knew this would be a wedding unlike anything else. The scale was incredible, but what interested me most were the personal moments unfolding within it. Beneath an immersive white floral ceremony setting, Chioma wore a custom Alonuko Bridal gown, and Davido chose Tom Ford.

Photographing more than 1,500 guests meant constantly observing what was happening around me. Emotional family interactions were happening at the same time as performances, incredible fashion, music, and spontaneous moments between guests. My approach was to move naturally through it all, knowing when to step closer and when to observe, so the photographs could preserve both the scale of the wedding and the smaller moments that gave it meaning.

The fashion was extraordinary. Guests arrived in couture, traditional Nigerian attire, intricate textiles, and remarkable jewelry. I have always drawn inspiration from fashion and editorial photography, so visually, something was happening everywhere I looked. But rather than treating the wedding like a fashion shoot, I wanted the photographs to feel connected to the people, their personalities, and the culture being celebrated.

As the evening unfolded, the atmosphere transformed completely. Dramatic lighting, immersive production, music, and concert-level performances filled the space with an energy that is difficult to describe unless you were there. Nigerian weddings have an incredible sense of celebration, and being surrounded by more than a thousand people sharing that energy was something I will always remember.

Having Davido and Chioma’s wedding published in Vogue Weddings was an incredible recognition, but what stays with me most is the experience of documenting a celebration with so many layers. It was about family and emotion, but also heritage, fashion, music, and the coming together of people from around the world. My goal was to create photographs that preserved all of those elements while still keeping Davido and Chioma at the heart of the story.
